Dahanu
Tour to Dahanu Valley is an essential part of many package trips to Ladakh. In fact it is said that an adventure tour to Ladakh is incomplete without a visit to Dahanu. Tour to Dahanu is a pleasurable experience for many. Tourists, who visit Jammu and Kashmir in India, are found to come back again and again as the thirst for natural beauty cannot be quenched by a single visit to the region, for nature in Leh-Ladakh has much to offer. The name "Dahanu Gaon" originates from the word "Dhenu Gram" meaning the village of cows. A lot of cattle, particularly cows were owned by the people in Dahanu. Today, Dahanu has become a major commercial and industrial town in the Palghar district. It is well known for rose gardens, coconut groves and the chickoo fruit and are 35% of Maharashtra's chickoo production.
Rubber balloons, rice mills and manufactured goods, are major manufacturing products which are produced in Dahanu. Dha and Hanu are placed on the meeting points of Indus and Shyok Rivers in the Kargil region. Famed as the ‘Land of Aryans’, these villages are home to Brokpa or Drokpa community of Ladakh. The Brokpas have made around 5 villages their home but the tourists are permitted to visit only villages- Dha and Hanu. Apart from tourists, these villages are an attraction for anthropologists also.
